Jeanie Carlstead, E-RYT Jeanie Carlstead began studying and practicing yoga in 1988. In her travels she has learned from many great yogis, with her 18 years working with Gerhard Gessner and Erich Schiffman, and her recent four years working with John Friend and Desiree Raumbaugh in the Anusara tradition being the most significant. Her classes combine influences of yoga traditions such as Anusara, Vinyasa, Yoga Therapeutics, Ashtanga, Restorative, and Meditation and are informed by her 30 year studies of wisdom traditions. In addition to her study of mind-body disciplines, she holds degrees from UCSD in history and psychology (Magna Cum Laude). She specializes in understanding the process of transformation, heightened levels of consciousness, the experience of being fully alive, and the process of creating freedom. She is presently writing a book entitled The Everyday Wisdom of Yoga. Jeanie’s Anusara Flow classes teach the Universal Principles of Alignment, which empowers the student by escalating their practice to a more conscious level of understanding, thereby enhancing precision and the transformation effects possible in the practice. Her classes are dynamic, yet deeply nurturing. Her love and admiration of the students inspire her desire to share the process of yoga as a way of realizing, appreciating, and maximizing the possibilities of who they are. Jeanie’s classes are designed to open the heart, unblock tension, and create strength, endurance, and flexibility, supported by a calm inner stillness and an awakened level of consciousness. |
