Amanda Hanley, RYTYoga became an integral part of Amanda's life in 2000 when she moved to California after graduating from Michigan State University with a BS in psychology. She began practicing regularly with Chappy Foote, owner of Harmony Yoga in Redondo Beach and was instantly inspired by the physical, emotional and mental transformation she felt as a practitioner of Hatha Yoga. Feeling a deep desire to share this powerful practice with others, she took her first teacher training with Diana Beardsley at the Center for Yoga in LA, with an emphasis on Anusara Yoga. She began teaching at Harmony Yoga, quitting her job in the fashion industry to teach full time. Amanda continued to practice and train with Chappy, attended an Advanced Vinyasa Teacher Training with Shiva Rea at Sacred Movement, attended classes with Kausthub Desikachar at Loyola Marymount University, and attended workshops and classes throughout the Los Angeles area. She moved to San Diego in 2004 and continues to practice and draw inspiration from the wonderful community of teachers she has met in San Diego, including Gerhard Gessner, Geri Portney, Michael Fukumura, Jane McCormick, and Jeanie Carlstead. During the years since she began teaching, she developed a unique Vinyasa flow style class using creative and healing sequencing, inspirational music, and a deep connection with the flow and rhythm of the breath. Her class can be spontaneously and easily molded so that people of all energy levels enjoy themselves safely and benefit greatly. Currently Amanda is attending the International Professional School of Bodywork in Pacific Beach studying for her Holistic Healthcare Practitioner license. She will also be attending Larry Payne's Yoga Therapy Program at LMU in 2007. Combining bodywork and yoga, she will better serve her existing students and clients while developing the knowledge and experience to help people with more specific injuries and health concerns.
