CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


Intermediate/Strong Flow, Heated to 80-85 degrees

VINYASA FLOW ~ Our Signature Class. Strong flow class in a heated room (80-85 degrees). Be prepared to sweat and be challenged in this vigorous style of Yoga linking breath and movement through a creative, flowing sequence of Yoga postures. Modifications are given for different levels.

SUNRISE YOGA FLOW ~ Rise & Shine! Awaken your senses and start the day with sun salutations and a flowing series of dynamic asanas (postures). This invigorating Sunrise Vinyasa class will start your day on the right note! Modifications in poses for different levels.

 

Alignment-based, Gentle

HATHA YOGA ~ A gentler class than our Vinyasa Flow classes, Hatha Yoga consists of dynamic Yoga postures that will help you develop strength, balance, flexibility and increase concentration & inner calm. Learn correct alignment, conscious breathing, work with possible injuries, relax and enjoy! Ideal for all levels, incl. beginners and seniors, seeking a dynamic, yet not too challenging class at a slower pace.

HAPPY BACK YOGA/YOGA WALL Explored the amazing traction capabilities of the  YOGA WALL yet?  A specialty class designed to promote optimal back health and getting the kinks out,  taught by teachers who know their stuff and are big on correct alignment!  Each class is unique and emphasizes poses that create space in the spine and relieve tension in the upper and lower back and neck.  All levels. Great for beginners, too! This class is safe for any one with back pain, disc herniations, disc degeneration, scoliosis and post operative conditions.

 

Restore & Relax

KUNDALINI YOGA Kundalini Yoga uses movement, sound current, breath and meditation to relax and heal your mind and body, allowing the spirit to flow freely. Kundalini Yoga brings a greater feeling of well-being and happiness - our natural birthright as humans. This powerful and effective form of Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, Ph.D., Master of Kundalini Yoga, is a great way to recharge and heal your body quickly. How? By stimulating the nervous and immune systems, while improving strength and flexibility, as it centers the mind and opens the spirit. From your very first class, you'll reap the rewards including-- relief from back pain, stress, addiction, depression and insomnia, as well as weight control. Kundalini Yoga promises you peace of mind. Everyone can do it!

RESTORATIVE YIN YOGA ~ Slow it way down and walk away in bliss!  Relax and replenish your body, mind and soul and find stillness in deep stretches and soothing music in a candlelit room! Most poses are on the floor supported by Yoga props.  Yin Yoga is a  Taoist form of Yoga that targets the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and spine. At a gentle, soothing pace floor postures are held for longer periods of time (3-5min) to facilitate deeper opening.  

CANCER THERAPY YOGA ~ This gentle class offers inspiration, bonding and a gentle yoga experience for women and men diagnosed with cancer. Includes breathing exercises, slow stretches, healing yoga sequences, restorative yoga and balancing work appropriate during and after cancer treatment. Soothing music, rejuvenating postures and deep relaxation are combined to calm and rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit.

 

 

 

Specialty Classes

PRENATAL YOGA ~ First class free! Prepare your body for birth and motherhood and relief the aches & pains related to pregnancy through gentle postures and stretches in a nurturing and safe environment. Taught by Vicki Abrams, long-time Yoga teacher, childbirth educator, doula, & lactation consultant, this class allows moms-to-be to connect with each other and with their babies. Find out why Vicki's class is more than just prenatal Yoga!  Vicki co-authored the popular book "Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives" with Deepak Chopra, MD. COMMUNITY CLASS ~ All level Vinyasa Flow class taught by graduates from our Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training course. Reduced fee: $5 per class. Tuesdays at 8pm.

SHINE! TEEN YOGA FOR GIRLS ~ Starting January 2012, program offering 3 weekly classes for PE credit for middle & high school students. 

KIDS YOGA ~ The class you wish you attended as a kid! Fun and joyful class where children ages 7 and up are guided to explore playful Yoga postures, learn about growing strong, flexible and healthy bodies, and practice easy tools to better focus and relax. Taught by Meagan Hood, certified Yoga teacher & licensed educational psychologist. Next session starts January 9, 2012, Mondays at 4:15-5pm.
