Prana
Yoga Center offers a peaceful sanctuary where beginning through advanced
students can practice and learn about Yoga. Our approach to Yoga
is non-dogmatic and eclectic... offering a variety of dynamic Hatha Yoga
classes that draw from ancient yogic traditions, including Ashtanga,
Iyengar, Kundalini, and classic Hatha Yoga. Many of our classes
are Vinyasa-based; in Vinyasa Flow Yoga, asanas (postures) are connected
by the breath in a flowing sequence that serves to liberate prana.
Prana is the Sanskrit word for "breath"
and also means "life." Therefore, prana can be
translated as "the breath of life" or "life energy."
"When the practice of postures is combined with
conscious breathing
and deep states of concentration and absorption, prana will sometimes
spontaneously "take over" the practice.
Suddenly, energy itself will begin to direct the flow of postures.
In these moments we may have a sense of effortlessness,
of complete surrender to a force greater than ourselves.
This experience can be surprising, compelling, and blissful.
And, it appears to be completely out of our control.
We cannot make it happen. We can only let it happen."
